Wilks Score

A formula used in powerlifting to compare strength across different body weights, normalized by a sex-specific polynomial. A Wilks score above 500 is considered elite; 400+ is advanced.

A raw total favors heavier lifters, so the Wilks coefficient applies a sex-specific polynomial to level the field. It lets a 60 kg and a 120 kg competitor be ranked on strength relative to their size.

Key Formula & Relationship
Wilks Score = Total Weight Lifted (kg) × Wilks Coefficient(Bodyweight)
