Buying the right amount of non-alcoholic beverages for a party means avoiding two failure modes: running out mid-event, or hauling home cases of unopened soda. This calculator turns your guest count, event length, and beverage mix into a concrete shopping list of bottles, gallons, and cans.

How the Party Drink Calculator works

The calculator multiplies your guest count by the event length in hours and a drinks-per-hour-per-person rate (1.5 by default) to get a total drink count. That total is then split across soda, water, and juice using your mix percentages, and each type is converted into real-world shopping units: 2-liter bottles for soda, gallons for water, and cans for juice, based on standard 8 oz cup servings.

Inputs and what they mean

Guests is your total headcount — everyone at the event, not just active drinkers. Event length is the number of hours the party runs. The rate defaults to 1.5 drinks per person per hour, a reasonable middle ground for a typical indoor gathering; increase it for kids' parties (frequent small servings) or hot outdoor events (more thirst). The soda/water/juice sliders always sum to 100%; moving one slider proportionally adjusts the other two so the split stays balanced.

Limits and edge cases

This calculator estimates typical non-alcoholic consumption for a general crowd — it does not include ice, which should be planned separately (roughly 1 lb per guest is a common rule of thumb). For alcoholic beverages, see the Wedding Alcohol or Cocktail Scaling calculators instead. Container counts are always rounded up so you don't run short, which means the shopping list slightly overestimates the exact total.
