How the Acceleration Converter works
The calculator converts every value through a single base unit — meters per second squared (m/s²) — the SI unit of acceleration. Your input is first multiplied by the source unit's conversion factor to express it in m/s², then divided by the target unit's factor to produce the final result. Standard gravity (g) is fixed at exactly 9.80665 m/s² by international convention, feet per second squared (ft/s²) equals 0.3048 m/s², Gal equals 0.01 m/s², and km/h per second equals 0.277778 m/s².
Inputs and what they mean
Enter a numeric value, then choose the unit it is currently expressed in (From) and the unit you want it converted to (To). All five units are physically equivalent measures of acceleration — the change happens instantly as you type or switch a dropdown. The All Conversions panel on the Convert tab shows your value expressed in every supported unit simultaneously, which is useful when you need several representations at once.
Limits and edge cases
This calculator handles unit conversion only — it does not compute acceleration from distance and time, or from force and mass. If you need to derive acceleration from other physical quantities, use the Free Fall, Force, or Velocity calculators instead. Extremely small or large values (below 1e-9 or above 1e9 in the target unit) are shown in scientific notation for readability.
