    Frequently Asked Questions

Basics What is Bilt 2.0 and how do the new earning paths work?
Bilt 2.0 replaced the old points-on-rent system with two earning paths. Housing-Only Tiers let you earn 0.50x to 1.25x on your housing payment based on how much you spend elsewhere on the card. The Bilt Cash path earns 4% cash back on everyday purchases, which you can convert to housing points at a rate of $30 = 1,000 points.
Comparison Which Bilt card is best: Blue, Obsidian, or Palladium?
It depends on your total spending. Blue ($0/year) is best for light spenders who want points on rent with no fee. Obsidian ($95/year) is great for moderate spenders who can leverage the 3x dining or grocery bonus. Palladium ($495/year) offers 2x on everything plus $400 in hotel credits and $200 Bilt Cash, making it worthwhile for high spenders.
Tiers How do Housing-Only Tiers work?
Your housing earning rate depends on your non-housing spend as a percentage of your housing payment. Below 25% you earn a flat 250 points. At 25% you unlock 0.50x, at 50% you get 0.75x, at 75% you reach 1.00x, and at 100% (spending as much on the card as your housing payment) you earn the maximum 1.25x on housing.
Strategy Is the Bilt Cash path better than Housing-Only Tiers?
It depends on your spending-to-housing ratio. The Bilt Cash path can be better if you have high everyday spending relative to a low housing payment, since 4% cash converts efficiently to points. For most users with typical housing costs, Housing-Only Tiers win because the per-dollar earning rate at higher tiers exceeds the Bilt Cash conversion rate.
Limits Does the Obsidian grocery 3x bonus have a cap?
Yes. If you choose grocery as your Obsidian 3x category, the bonus rate applies to the first $25,000 in annual grocery spending. Any grocery spending above that cap earns at the standard 1x rate. This calculator accounts for this cap in all projections.

For informational purposes only. Not financial advice. Point valuations are estimates and vary by redemption method. Bilt Cash has expiration rules. Obsidian grocery 3x capped at $25k/year. Palladium welcome bonus requires $4k spend in 90 days. Hotel credits must be used through Bilt Travel Portal. See biltrewards.com for current terms.
